Equine-assisted therapy is a form of therapy that involves therapeutic interactions between people and horses to promote physical, emotional, and mental health.
It can be used to treat or support a variety of conditions, such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), autism, and attention deficit (+hyperactivity) disorder (ADD /ADHD) – the list is endless. During an equine assisted session, individuals work with horses under the guidance of a trained therapist, who helps them process and understand their emotions and experiences. Our processes leverage a variety of modality with a focus on Mindfulness, Somatic Practice and Gestalt.
The sessions themselves can take many different forms, depending on the goals and the needs of the individual. For example, it might involve activities such as grooming and or observing the horses, leading the horse through an obstacle course, or simply spending time with the horse in a quiet, peaceful setting.
Research has shown that this style of approach can be an effective form of therapy for many individuals, and it is becoming increasingly popular for a wide variety of individuals and groups.

These sessions are not counselling or talk therapy but rather a time to tap into your best self and your inner intuition and harness and refine the tools and skills to help you regulate yourself during stress or pressure. These sessions also allow you a forum to talk through life as it is showing up for you today and learn skills to help you navigate this.
Nature Based Counselling
Horses aren’t for everyone, but perhaps being in a traditional room based counselling relationship isn’t either. This is where our nature based sessions come in. Experience the support of a person centred practitioner, out in the fresh air, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. Take a stroll or relax under a tree – we can work to support you in a space that feels right for you.
